Wedding at The Guildhall, Bath
In the summer, I had the pleasure of photographing S&D’s legal wedding at Bath Guildhall, one of the most beautiful places to get married in Bath.
They had planned a bigger celebration closer to home the following week, but they were drawn to Bath’s beautiful architecture and the timeless feel of its historic Guildhall. They decided they wanted this lovely city to be the backdrop for their wedding day, and having photographed in Bath before, I could completely understand why!
Getting Ready at Eight, Bath
One of the lovely things about getting married at Bath Guildhall is that there are so many beautiful hotels nearby where you can spend the morning getting ready with your favourite people.
S chose Eight, Bath, a gorgeous boutique hotel just a short walk from the Guildhall. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the morning before heading off to say “I do”.
With Bath’s beautiful streets and historic buildings right on the doorstep, it’s such a lovely location for couples who want to make the most of the city on their wedding day.
The Beauty of an Intimate Wedding
A lot of the weddings I’ve been booking lately have had much smaller guest lists than the traditional 100-plus-person celebration, and honestly, I love it!
Having 20 or 30 of your favourite people there, rather than a huge guest list, can create such a personal atmosphere. There’s just as much emotion, if not more, and you get to spend your day surrounded by the people who mean the most to you.
There are lots of reasons couples choose a smaller wedding. It might be the cost, a desire to get married somewhere special, the appeal of a destination wedding, or simply a preference for a more intimate celebration.
Whatever your reason, if you’re considering a smaller wedding and are sitting on the fence, my advice is to go for it if it feels right for you as a couple.
Your wedding should be whatever you want it to be, shared with the people you want by your side, whether that’s 15 guests or 150.
Couple Portraits Around Bath
One of the best things about getting married at Bath Guildhall is its central location, with so much of Bath’s beautiful architecture just a short walk away.
After spending some time with their guests in Parade Gardens, S&D and I headed out for a relaxed walk around the city to make the most of the stunning surroundings for their couple portraits.
From the beautiful architecture around Bath Abbey to the famous Pulteney Bridge and the historic streets near the Roman Baths, Bath is such a wonderful backdrop for wedding photography. Wandering around the city together on a sunny August day was a lovely way to spend some time away from the celebrations and capture some photographs of the two of them.
And of course, we couldn't miss the confetti outside the grand entrance to the Guildhall!
I love that you can have such a relaxed, personal wedding in the heart of a city as beautiful as Bath, without needing to travel far between your ceremony, your guests and your portraits.
