I honestly love pre-wedding shoots almost as much as I love photographing weddings themselves.
Wedding planning is exciting, but it can also become a long list of emails, decisions and to-do lists. Before you know it, the months have disappeared and your wedding day is just around the corner. I love giving couples an hour or so away from all of that to simply spend time together, slow down and enjoy this really special season of their lives.
Whether you've been engaged for two years or two months, time has a funny way of speeding up once you're planning a wedding. I can definitely relate to that at the moment, I blinked and somehow my own two-year engagement has turned into just four weeks until my wedding!
Why a Pre-Wedding Shoot is Worth It
One of the things I love most about pre-wedding shoots is that there's no pressure. It's a chance for us to get to know each other before your wedding day, for you to get comfortable in front of the camera, and for me to learn what feels most natural for you as a couple. By the time your wedding comes around, having your photos taken feels so much more relaxed because we've already spent some time together.
H&A's Castle Combe Pre-Wedding Shoot
H&A chose Castle Combe for their pre-wedding shoot, and I couldn't think of a more perfect location. If you've never visited before, it's easy to see why it's one of the most popular places for engagement photos in Wiltshire. With its beautiful stone cottages, winding streets, stunning gardens and peaceful countryside setting, there are gorgeous backdrops around every corner without having to travel very far.
We met on a gorgeous June evening during this unusually hot and dry English summer and simply wandered around the village together. We explored the beautiful gardens at The Manor House, strolled through the quiet streets and made the most of the gorgeous evening light. There wasn't really a plan, we just walked, chatted, laughed and stopped whenever we found a spot that was too pretty to walk past.

Why Castle Combe is One of My Favourite Photography Locations in Wiltshire

One of my favourite things about photographing couples in Castle Combe is that every season brings something different. Summer evenings have that soft golden light that photographers dream of, while the quiet streets and timeless buildings make the photos feel classic all year round. It's one of those places that never really goes out of style.
As a Wiltshire wedding photographer, I feel incredibly lucky to have beautiful locations like Castle Combe on my doorstep. Whether you're planning a local wedding, looking for engagement photos, or simply want a relaxed pre-wedding shoot somewhere surrounded by the English countryside, it's a location I always love recommending.
Spending the evening exploring Castle Combe with H&A was such a lovely reminder of why I enjoy pre-wedding shoots so much. I'm already looking forward to seeing them again for their wedding next year, but for now, I hope you enjoy a little look through some of my favourite moments from our evening together.
